The Scariest Words in The World Are...

..."guess what I just bought on eBay!"

...the reply to which is "oh...joy.."

So now we are the proud owners of THREE cars, not all of them currently working but there we are. Honesty I thought I was bad on eBay, the most I've ever done is get over excited and buy a kitchen.  This is what happens when Rich is left unsupervised for 10 straight hours!!

I can't tell you how long he has wanted another Cortina, he owned one when we where at Uni (hello to all who remember the faithful 'Yellow Peril', you know who you are!) about 10 years ago but was forced to sell it. Sadly the new garage is still on the todo list so the 'Blue Bastard' as I have suggested we call it, is living at his Mum and Dads (along with the kitchen). His parents must love him VERY MUCH!

Rich removed the flame stickers from the side, as he pointed out it was a little over ambitious on a car that only goes 70 mph down hill with the wind behind it. After all we wouldn't want to look like dicks would we!

I did ask him if we could keep the union jack though, I rather like it! In fact this little blue car has sort of won my heart a little bit too, I'm a sucker for rescuing things that need a little love and attention.

So there we are, another huge messy project to under take. One day we'll actually finish something we start! Never mind, it may need a new clutch, brakes, headlights, fuel tank, front wings,  welding and re-spraying but at least Rich get waves and thumbs up from other guys when driving it, which is basically the whole point of owning one as far as I can tell.

I'm afraid I got all excited about the wind farm and the Suffolk (?) sheep in the distance. The car was blocking my view!

When I took the photo I was thinking this - Royd Moor wind farm and the old car, they have a few things in common.
Holding onto anything that works rather than renewing it while it is still serviceable is a wise use of resources. Anything mechanical that can survive 40 years and still provide a practical purpose is a great thing for the environment!

Yep, thats the reason we brought the car...to save the environment! xx
