New Stuff

I am slightly worried that I may come across on here as some mad shopaholic, I seem to do nothing but write about my latest buys! Rich and I operate a strict 'one in, one out' policy in our house and as such Im always either giving stuff away on freegle or selling stuff on ebay, although I do squirrel some stuff away for future projects, especially old fabric!

I picked these up at a boot sale before we went on holiday a few weeks ago...

The blue and yellow fabric is actually two quite large original 50's curtains in near perfect condition, I've got them in mind for use in the kitchen at some point and they only cost £2 for both.
The other fabric is off cuts from the Sandersons 50s fabric collection which is reissue of a retro design, theres probably enough to do a few cushion covers and only £1.80.

While we where away on holiday I also picked up a few more plates (because apparently I don't have enough!), I got two 'Beefeater' plates by Ironstone from an antiques market in Lyme Regis, they where buried at the back of a stall and Im pretty sure had been there when we went last year, I managed to get them for £3 each, a bit more than I would normally pay but I just love the friendly looking bulls, they make me smile.

The little side plate I spotted in a cabinet in an antiques centre in Bridport, it had no name and no price but I recognised it as a Jessica Tait design straight away, its from her 'Homespun' range, I got if for £2.

Our other score on holiday was the little 60s record cabinet, it was a bit rickety and I managed to get some money off. We've been looking for a small unit to stand next to our sofa to keep our extensive mag collect tidy, so this little unit was perfect. As with most of the furniture from this era is has been heavy varnished, I'm not a big fan of this look so we decided to carefully sand the vanish off and wax the wood the same as we did with the G-Plan sideboard.

Its not quite finished yet and needs a little more sanding, also I have this idea to paint one of the sliding doors in a lovely pale blue/green, basically just an exscsue for me to go and look at the Farrow and Ball tester pots in Homebase!

Going to Bath Homebase is always a slightly dicy thing as they have a Habitat outlet in there which they have strategically moved right next to the door as you go in, so where as Rich wants to look at important things like tools and plumbing bits I always disappear off to look at less important things like duvet covers! On this day Rich was feeling generous and splashed out on a cushion for me, it may have had something to do with the Hares on it which Rich knows I love! I don't normal buy new cushions preferring to make my own but this one was only £12 which I though was amazingly cheap for Habitat.

I think it goes really well with my Ercol armchair.
