Lazy Sundays

What is the perfect thing to go and do on a beautiful hot and sunny sunday (it feels like the first in months!),  car booting of course and because Rich was away I dragged the lovely Lucy along with me (but not the very sensible Caroline who stayed in bed like a normal person!). Poor Luc, 'hold this', 'grab that', 'just hang on to these a minute' this is why I don't go on my own, I simply run out of hands!

So having established that the equally junk loving Lucy seemed to be very good luck, I managed to bag some total bargains this week...

The little yellow plate is a 60s danish design for £1, the blue and orange ones where 50p for the pair (one does have a rather huge chip out of it!), all of which will go with our cool 50s kitchen when we eventually get it sorted (plans abound for the completion date on this so bare with us!) and lastly another tin globe to go with the one Rich bought me for christmas. I spotted this as we walked up to the stall and casually asked the nice lady how much she wanted (preparing as always to haggle like hell to get it), then nearly had a stroke when she said 20p...'OK' I pretty much screamed at her. I ran off hurriedly stuffing it into my hunting sack, incase the nice lady suddenly decided to look up how much tin globes go for on ebay!

So now my little globe has a friend!

We wondered on a few more rows then stumbled across yet more china, (it never rains but it pours...pretty patterned kitchen ware apparently), I had to have a little walk around and a think (mostly about whether I have any more cupboard space) but the call of the 1950s patterns drew me back  and I got this nearly complete (missing one saucer) tea set for £6 down from £8

Mmmm makes me want to throw a tea party right now!

Oh and as Rich was absent I picked him up a little token...

...nothing says 'I love you' like an inspection lamp...no really.

So while I strolled around in the sun looking at old crap, Rich did pretty much the same thing 100 miles away...

...I however did not get an inspection lamp...I don't think this marriage will last (!)

I really dig that tea set! Given your interest in the period, if you watch shows at all, check out Mad Men. It begins in 1960...

Hi Sylvanna

Rich and I are huge Mad Men fans, we have avidly watched and re-watched all 5 series on DVD. Being a set dresser for that show must be amazing, what a cool job that would be!
