Holiday Goodies

We've been up in Shropshire for the last two weeks so apologise for the absence of my usual ramblings! We been having a working  holiday, seeing clients, dropping of stock to stockists and working on our English Rose Kitchen, we also managed to get in seeing some friends and family too which was brilliant!

And of course while we where away we managed to get the chance to visit a few local charity shops, junk stores, flea markets and one brilliant carboot!

So as usual here some of our booty...
Picture
We got this cool 60s mirror from Oswestry market from the excellent Go Retro stall run by Bob! Thanks for knock £2 off for us Bob making it an excellent £10! It looks fab next to our drinks cabinet.
Picture
We have a few more glasses in the cabinet but still no cocktail glasses, I'd love some Babycham ones but the whole country has decided they would like them too, meaning your now talking over £25 for a set which is too much for something I would potential drop after I've had a few. I did pick these cute little strawberry glasses and cocktail shaker for £1 and £1.50 the weekend before we went on hols.
Picture
At the same carboot I also scored this excellent 60s  Egersund disk for only £3 (which I was chuffed about as they normal go on eBay for £15-£25 each). I already have a dinner plate and a little side plate in this pattern, I just love how happy it is, it makes me smile very time I look at it!
Picture
While we where away I managed to pick up more plates and another bowl (god knows why, its not like I need them!), they where from a dogs rescue charity shop in Church Stretton and where such a good price I couldn't leave them, I mean...10p a plate for 60s pyrex!!

Isn't this snowflake pattern brilliant...

A compulsory visit while up in Shropshire is the Chirk Sunday carboot sale, we have scored some excellent stuff from there before and usually at rock bottom prices (This is the advantage of living down South, all prices up North suddenly seem very reasonable!).

This vist was no exception, I kick thing off by pick up another foot stool for £3, I had been looking for another one to recover as we are always short of extra seats when we have friends round and these stools and really comfortable. By chance this one had exactly the same legs as my little square one I got last year...
Picture
So Im planning to recover it, I would really love to do it in Mark Hearlds Harvest Hare fabric but at £48 a meter its a little out of my price range. Should make a nice project for over the winter.

I also picked up this beautiful etching which now has pride of place in the living room.

I think the best find of the day however goes to these two funky 60s/70s stackable stools! The guy wanted £20, I got them for a smile and £15. These will be perfect in our kitchen, we have limited space in there but I do want a table to sit and eat at, chairs however to tend to get in the way a little, where as these can be kick under the table.
We are going to strip the old vanish off as its been knocked or worn on in large areas anyway, we made a start with the sander at the weekend and I think they will come up really well with a little beeswax.

So thats everything I took pictures of, I did manage to get a beautiful piece of 50s curtain fabric which has the most excellent trees on, however I left it with my very capable mum who is as usual being a star and hemming it for me! Stupidly I didn't take a picture before leaving it with her, so you'll just have to wait till it comes back.

We have also been doing a lot of work on the G Plan sideboard we brought in Oswestry a few months back, it had some rather huge scratches up he front which is why we got it so cheap (£40!) so we have painted the worst bit and sanded and waxed the rest. Unfortunately its to big to fit in out Rav so Richards Dad will drop it off for us at some point. I cant wait!!

Phew...I could do with a holiday now.

Hi Kat & Rich,

The OH stumbled across your blog while looking for Victoriana apple trees and we both love it, maybe because there's a certain degree of similarity with ours. Have a look and see for yourself!

Incidentally, we've only been to Shropshire once and fell in love with it.

We look forward to following your adventures and may even ask your advice from time to time.

David (and Konni)

Hah! And even though the form asks for a website, it didn't display it, so for the record: http://victorianhouseproject.blogspot.com.
