We have a bit of a weakness for chairs...I find them hard to resist when we find a little gem at a boot sale or junk shop! Here a few of our favourits... We have a pair of these Ercol high-backs Windsor armchairs, they are ridiculous comfy, ideal to curling up with a book in. We where luck enough to get these for free a few years ago from our local Freegle group. I recovered the seats last year as they where getting a bit worn, they look lovely in our little living room. I had wanted some Ercol armchairs for ages so so super chuffed to get given these. This is our fabulous Greaves & Thomas Egg Chiar form the wonderful Beatniks vintage shop in Shrewsbury (totally worth a visit if your in the area!!), we did pay retail for this which isn't something I normally do (born haggler me) but somethings are worth paying the money for. Not only is this massively comfy, Rich finds it terribly useful when playing video games as it swivels! Both being illustrators and spending quite a bit of time working for from our home office we of course use vintage desk chairs. Rich used a 1940s steel office chair, picked up on eBay about 7 years ago for around £20, the idea was to strip it but after a while he decided he liked the worn original green paint. We both love this style of chair and have nearly brought several others, the only issue is we don't need another one! I have a heavy oak architects chair dating from around the 1920/30s we think, this was brought by my Dad when I first moved to Bath over 10 years ago from a junk shop, it was around £10 I seem to remember and was in a terrible state, it even had two holes drilled in the seat (presumable accidentally?!) he took it off home, fixed the holes, sanded and waxed it and I used it ever since. I don't think I could ever part with it. Our little phone bench was given to us last year by Richs mum, she found it in a junk shop up north, it was very water damaged so we sanded back the worn varnish and waxed it, I also painted the bottom of the legs to give it a bright cherry feel. Dinning chairs are where I have a real issue, our kitchen is super small, we have a little dinning table but its so narrow its hard to find chairs that fit round it, we solved the issue by having a storage truck against the wall which doubles as a bench and then two chairs. This first one we got at a car boot sale in 2014 for £10, its a stackable 60s school chair we think. And lastly our latest find bought from a junk shop in Frome, another 1960s chair with cool vinyl for £10. So thats it, no more chairs...unless I find something really cool!
