So thats where we are with the kitchen I still need to sort quite a few jobs out, we need to change the main light, tile the splash back and paint the cupboard doors but its still a vast improvment on what we did have.
I realised looking at this blog the other day that its been ages since I updated about both the kitchen revamp and the new shed (thanks for the reminder Jane!), so first off heres the kitchen (sorry the pics are grainy, the best light in theres first thing in the morning not 4pm)... Rich got the long shelf painted which has made it blend right into the room, its also meant I can start loading it with stuff now, including my long neglected cook books. Dont you just love these fairy light in the shape of pine cones! Super kitch! They are in B&Q's chirstmas light range this year, they are LED so very low energy. I think their super cute, and no doubt they will remain up year round! I finally made use of the greenhouse brackets, Rich had to grind the lip off the end so they sit flat against the shelf but they add extra support for my heavy pans, plus they look cool and are excellent for hanging pine cone lights off! Bless my Mum, she said she wanted to contribute to the new kitchen so turned up last weekend with these two Cath Kidston cushions (fyi they are in their sale at the mo if anyones interested!), they make the wooden bench a little bit more comfy and cosey. Have you spotted the foxy table cloth? That was from Richards Mummy, she very sweety sewed it up for us. Love the fabric, must look at making a dress from the same stuff! And finally heres my latest treasure, I have been after a Catherine Holme pan for years, but they always come up way to pricey on ebay. This one has a very slight dink in the enamel which doesnt bother me as it meant I got it at a better price, plus I dont belive in having stuff just for show, all my vintage and retro gear gets used day to day. So thats where we are with the kitchen I still need to sort quite a few jobs out, we need to change the main light, tile the splash back and paint the cupboard doors but its still a vast improvment on what we did have. I havent done much more to the shed other than paint is several times over! Im really happy with the colours though... We'll be using it as general storage over the winter as we are planning to reroof our garage to make Rich a workshop which will help us with other projects, so at the mo the planned studio will be on hold till the spring but I have lots if plans and ideas so watch this space during 2015!

Its been a busy few weeks here, we are both snowed under with work which isn't a bad thing as we need to scrap the pennies up for the Shepard's Hut plan next year, it does mean not much more has progressed with the house though. We did how ever find time to unearth a few new editions, the first being a new stereo system... Well new to us at least, Rich brought this very old 8-track player at a car-boot last year, for those of you who don't know what an 8-track is (I didn't, too young!) its the fore-runner to cassette tapes. So with a length of speaker wire, two old car speakers which are now hidden behind furniture and a lead to plug the ipad into its is now our retro new stereo! Pretty nifty for £4 and looks great on the G-plan sideboard! I picked up this 60s danish lamp base back in August, it was reduced and reduced down to £12 which I was chuffed about, its been given a sand and a wax to freshen it. On Sunday I when with some friends to the Green Park Station Vintage and Antiques Market in Bath, there was some lovely stuff, much of it out of my price range but I did get this cool original 60's spin fibreglass shade for £20 which I thing suits the lamp really well. My last find was a new chair for the kitchen, we've had problems with chairs in there was its quite a small table and anything with a back looks to big, this little chair though matches the two stools we already have and was just too cute to pass up... This has also been sanded and waxed as it was pretty grubby (forgot to take a before shot!), we think its an old stackable school chairs, definitely 50s/60s. Weirdly the red vinyl pretty much matches the red in my table cloth meaning I'll probably keep it rather then recover it. We managed to get this for £10 down from £15 so again super chuffed and wow is it comfortable to sit in!
So thats it for now, no major changes and Im trying to keep a lid of the stuff I buy as I've gotten rid of loads of stuff form the olds house that we had hung on to. It is very hard when I keep find lovely treasures though! |
