I did this little project in a few hours last week, we wanted a new lamp for the living room but I hadn't been able to find anything I liked/ could afford then Rich turned up this old lamp while look for something totally different in the shed. We bought this solid wooden lamp why back when we where at uni 12/13 years ago, God knows why we held on to it this long given how often I cull our stuff for the charity shops! Anyway it was pretty grubby and had patchy varnish so I gave it a quick sand to remove the rest. Then drew out the pattern I wanted lightly in pencil... I've got a liking for flat coloured triangles at the moment as well as slate grey and yellow ochre so that's what I had to go for! I really happy with how it came together, of course the brilliant lamp shade from lush designs helps ( luckily I already had this!). This kept me quite for a few hours at least.

It has been a busy 6 weeks but we finally have a weather proof new roof! Phew it felt like it would never end, Rich helped our roofer by labouring for him, he wasn't too good with heights to begin with but after two days running up and down ladders like he'd been doing it for years. So here's our little cottage with its new hat on and the scaffolding finally removed... The other job we also managed to get done in between doing the roof was to fence the rest of the garden, a job we've been trying to get finished for ages but we could never decide on what to use. In then end we settled for split chestnut posts mostly used as stock fencing from a local farm supplies store. I'm really pleased with how it came out... A huge thank you to my lovely husband for all your hard work and sorry about your ruined back (roof) and wrecked shoulder ( fence)!!!
