Impending Madness

Yes once again madness is set to descend like a big doolally cloud, we are about to start another HUGE house job in the next 4 weeks so I am currentaly packing all of our stuff up once again, to go into storage. Joy! So what will we be tackling this time? Nothing less than rewiring the entire house! It all started last year when we took part of the living room floor up to lay the fireplace, to our horror we discovered that the electrics of the whole house where not infact buried in the walls as you would excpect, no they we run under the floor! This maybe doesn't sound to scary until we found that in numerous placed the mains cables where sandwiched between heating and gas pipes and when I say sandwiched I mean tightly wrapped around heating pipes that get HOT! Not good or safe or even legal.
So the whole lots got to be rerouted, luckily we happen to have a lovely friend of ours who is a recently qualifed sparky so he has offered to redo the whole thing (with Richard's help). The only problem with rewiring is that Sam will need to get at the plug sockets, all of them, which currently are mostly behind large bits of furniture, and covered in books and breakable nick nacks. So its out with the old packing boxes once again (I loath packing!) and off to a self storage unit. Currentally most of the house looks like this...

If this wasn't headache enough, we have also discovered that the joists in the front bedroom (currently our studio) are flexing like crazy every time you walk about, meaning that the living room ceiling is started to crack! Again this cant be left as Sam will be drilling more holes for the brand new cables, so Rich is going to have to lift the entire floor and built the joists out, needless to say he is not looking forward to this. His dad has kindly said he will come and help him, its always slightly less daunting to have someone else to 'Humm' with when you run into a problem.

So how have I been coping with this added stress, why by buying more crap thats going to have to go straight into storage of course!

This great suitcase was just what I have been hunting for and a bargain at just £3. I'm doing a craft show in a few weeks and I am going to use it as a card stand, like this little one I brought at a boot sale a while ago...

It was all going well at the carboot, then Richard and I got a bit silly and totally lost our heads, forgetting that we need to pay electricians, rent storage and tools, buy new joists, numerous blots and whatnot. We some how came away with this bastard...

Bet that stunned you into silences, it certainly did when I told my Mum! Ok, its a giant, bloody heavy metal set of pigeon holes. I mean who wouldn't want that!

Initially we had thought that all cleaned up this would look good in the kitchen but unfortunately its to big, we had also thought it might work in the hall but no to big for there as well! So now we're think we'll use it in the office, not the one upstairs oh-no the one outside...the one we haven't built yet (this would be the point at which my Mum started laughing hysterically!). Knowing us we'll end up designing the whole bloody building round it!

Anyway its another lovely rust thing to add to the collection...I think we might have problems.
