A Much Needed Break

We have had a very lovely 10 days up in Shropshire visiting our parents, it was much needed as Rich hasn't had a holiday this year (well unless you count taking 3 weeks off to rewire the house which by all accounts was like going to Disney Land!). We have arrived back at our little cottage loaded down with swag, of course the minute we have no money we kept finding amazing bargains, so no more shopping for at least a month!

Just a quick sample of some of our latest goodies, we managed to find this cool 50s/60s table with excellent sputnik legs for £5 at a junk shop, its the perfect size for our little living room although I'm not jazzed about the wood effect laminate on the top...

...I think this would look amazing covered with something like this...

Rich also came across these great juice glasses, which we both love! The little lemon one is so cute and only 25p.

We did quite a bit of work on our English Rose kitchen while we where back, mostly stripping paint off metal (always a fun job!) so we can respray them the colour we want. This is rather a long winded job and surprisingly boring to take pics of which is why I didn't bother (you wouldn't want to see them, its mostly the two of us looking pissed off).

I did manage to find a rise and fall light for over the kitchen table, we have this idea to build a little dinner style booth in the corner of our kitchen and I wanted a light that you could lower over the table, so was thrilled when we spotted this...

Ok right now it doesn't look great but once I have the rest of the kitchen to go with it...so it may be some time before you see this again! Once again we have to buy these bits and bobs when we see them then squirrel them away for future projects. We paid £25 for this which was a little more than I wanted to part with but some people really don't want to haggle.

I think our star buy for the whole 10 days was this lovely cute cast iron bedroom fireplace we found at a car boot sale...

Weirdly we had been at a reclamation yard with Rich's mum the day before and seen a very similar one for £140, which we seriously considered as we have been on the hunt for one to go in the front bedroom/office. We spotted this one at a car boot over the boarder in Wales, the chap wanted £20, I got it for £15!

So a successful house stuff hunting holiday. We did do other stuff besides shop which I will post about when I have a mo. Right must go and do some proper work, not on holiday now (sigh).
